We have done months of testing various solutions including metal and wooden trays to hold just the grass patch without the cardboard packaging. We found that having the cardboard box within the tray meant a much easier solution to replacing your patch. You won't need to clean it every week, and it won't be a dirty process of you having to touch the soiled grass. Simply throw your patch away as you normally would, and slot your new patch into the Wooden Tray.
